In Friday's article you heard the story behind the man who helped to save Gwrych Castle in Abergele. But did you know you can now plan your staycation and stay within the grounds of the estate, right next to the beach!

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here is coming to North Wales this autumn making Gwyrch Castle one of the most talked about places right now, but how incredible would it be to stay in it's beach house? Well now you can!

Ty Crwn underwent an extensive restoration project in 2019 by a team of specialists who set out to bring the property back to its former glory. Extensive research and architectural analysis was carried out by a team of volunteer researchers who collated historical data from sources such as newspaper articles, letters and architectural plans to gain an insight into the significance of the building.

It's reported that the beach house was built by the Lloyds of Gwrych and was once used by the Countess of Dundonald for sea bathing. Yes, sea bathing! Bathing was a common practice in England & Wales from the second half of the seventeenth century. The interest in Roman and Greek antiquity resulted in the adoption of the ancient practice of public bathing on a remarkably industrial scale.

The property is 50 metres away from the shoreline and has the most spectacular views over Pensarn Beach and the Irish sea. It's highly unlikely that Ant & Dec will be staying here as dates are still available during November & December, however I'm sure the duo would be impressed by the incredible sea view and the sympathetic restoration.
